The beaches

Zandvoort beach occupies a strip of about 9 kilometres in length. When it comes to beach fun, there are lots of opportunities for recreation on Zandvoort beach: the most popular is sun bathing, but what about sailing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, volleyball, hire a segway and there is even an FKK beach for naturists. Last but not least, the beautiful and good beach restaurants. In winter time also the place to be having a hot chocolate after a nice stroll.

Bloemendaal beach has everything you need for a great day at the beach. It is one of the most popular beach towns in Holland. Especially during the summer, when people travel to this beloved beach resort by car or public transport. A visit to Bloemendaal is one big highlight. The reason for this – the beach! Bloemendaal has some of the best beach pavilions in the Netherlands, which often organize big beach parties. Sometimes the beach pavilions work together to create one amazing party on the beach. Bloemendaal is the Dutch answer to Ibiza.

Dogs on the beaches

Wonderful! Taking your dog out on the beach. To avoid inconvenience to other beachgoers, some rules apply.

During the period from October 1st to April 15th, dogs are allowed on the beach all day. 

From April 15th to October 1st, dogs are not allowed on the beach between 09:00 and 19:00. Outside of these hours, dogs are welcome.

Do you want to take your dog to the beach anyway between 09:00 and 19:00? You can on the beach past Parnassia, Zeeweg, zip code 2051 EA, Overveen (close to Bloemendaal aan Zee), parnassiaaanzee.nl (paid parking).
All of the beach is assigned an off leash area and dogs do not need to be kept on the lead. 

You are required to clean up after your dog everywhere on the beach, and you must carry the necessary materials and show these to an official when asked to do so. There are free poop bags all throughout Zandvoort.

Within the village of Zandvoort aan Zee dogs must be kept on the lead all year round.

The dunes, the wildlife (rabbits, deer, bizons, wild horses, foxes etc), the peace and tranquility, with great walking routes, well maintained cycle routes, you could not ask for a better place to visit at whatever time of year and dogs are welcome as well!

The small and charming center of Zandvoort

The town center is historical and has besides two main streets, nice small squares and alleys. Take a scroll and enjoy a nice ice cream, do some shopping, have some nice drinks on one of the terraces, go to a Dutch coffeeshop, the Casino and of course don’t forget your inner part, lots of restaurants to choice from. Tripadvisor recommendations

The circuit parc of Zandvoort

A beautiful racing track through the dunes and next to the beach. Watch the racing from nearby or even participate yourself! Last but not least: nowadays world wide famous because of FORMULA 1!

Haarlem, the ancient and beautiful capital of Noord-Holland, our guest’s favorite! 

To be reached within 23 bike minutes through the dunes or 10 train minutes.
With an abundance of historical sights, cultural attractions and hidden gems crammed into a relatively small city, Haarlem truly is a sightseers’ paradise. There’s plenty to keep the visitor entertained, but thanks to its compact size, it’s easy to get a good introduction to the city even if you only have one day to explore it. For the highlights, click here. The Zaanse Schans, a unique piece of Dutch history on the river Zaan

The Zaanse Schans is a residential area in which the 18th and 19th centuries are brought to life. Stroll past the bakery museum and enjoy the smell of fresh bread, or take a look at the warehouse where clogs are made. You should be sure not to miss the cheese factory, pewter foundry and the various windmills. The Zaanse Schans is a unique part of the Netherlands, full of wooden houses, mills, barns and workshops. Make a cycling or sailing trip, browse the shops or treat yourself at the pancake restaurant. A day out at the Zaanse Schans in North Holland is fun and educational. Alkmaar, famous for its cheese! 

Alkmaar has the same charme as the city Haarlem (approx. 30 car minutes).
Alkmaar is an ancient and cosy city and has a lot to offer such as: canals, courtyards, museums, beautiful shops and the cheese market.
From early April until the end of September, almost every Friday there is a Cheese Market in Alkmaar, from 10 am till 1 pm at Waagplein. The Keukenhof, the best day out among the flowers! (approx. 20 car minutes)

There are more than 7 million bulbs in bloom this spring, with a total of 800 varieties of tulips. An unique and unforgettable experience! Besides the spacious 32 hectares of flowers you can enjoy the spectacular flower shows, surprising inspirational gardens, unique artwork and wonderful events. Do not miss the Tulpomania exhibition in the Juliana Pavilion. Keukenhof is also one big party for children. They will have a blast with the treasure hunt, petting farm, maze and the playground.
Only opened during bloom bulb season.

Volendam

‘Anyone who wants to see the real beauty of Holland, goes to Volendam’. As a result of its completely insulated location, this village preserved its character for six centuries, also because of the tough vitality of the fishermen. The characteristic small houses, which together with the canals and the drawbridges form the most picturesque spots, present the visitor an atmosphere of geniality and romance.
